Self Help Center

Restoring Hope for Healing Minds

Director's Chat

Dear Members and Supporters,

I am very happy to report that Self Help Center received news of funding of a basic support proposal from Missouri Foundation for Health.  The basic support grant will provide funding to support our staffing needs and programs.  The total, to be disbursed over two years, is $63,000.

Self Help Center sent 10 individuals to Jefferson City so they could attend the DMH Transformation Kick-Off event and to attend Mental Health awareness day.  The participants also enjoyed dinner at Ryan's Steakhouse with Julie Carel, CSM, Department of Mental Health.  Those attending included Denise B, Member Liaison; Barb Anderson, Secretary, Board of Directors; Carrie Mullins, staff member; James A., Neil O., Chuck G., Karen W., Jean T., Christine M., and Nancy R., all Advisory Board Members.  While present, Carrie presented during the SCOPE session at the Truman Building, individuals participated in various workshops, and some met with their state representatives in the capitol building.

I hope that all of you will join us as we celebrate Self Help Center's 20th Anniversary on Sunday, May 18th at Two Hearts Banquet Center.  The evening includes a Deluxe Buffet Dinner (see menu below), a slide show presentation, a short film by those involved at the center, door prizes, and so much more.
